Friday in California was a super special and fun day...Brandon's mom's birthday!! And what better place to spend a birthday than at the beach?! In my book, you can't beat it! :) Living on opposite ends of the country, it's not often that we are able to spend birthday's together. So, we were very excited to share this day with her! We arrived in Newport beach midmorning, and started our day with a beautiful bike ride down the newport-balboa boardwalk. The views were amazing the entire way. Ocean on one side, bright and colorful beach houses on the other. After riding up and down the boardwalk, we walked the newport pier, then headed on over to the balboa pier for a delicious birthday lunch at the classic 1940's style Ruby's Diner... located at the very end of the pier! Who doesn't love eating at the end of a pier!? Following lunch, we spent the afternoon relaxing on balboa beach. It was such an amazing day! I could definitely go for another day like this right about now.... and every day for that matter! ;) Oh how I love the beach!
